"Gardening With the Local Landscape" - Diantha Robinson

Bremen Library Gardening Program April 2 @7:00

"Gardening With the Local Landscape" a talk by Diantha Robinson
Monday April 2 at 7:00 PM

The Bremen Library will present a program on April 2, 2012 by Bremen master gardener and landscaper Diantha Robinson.
With the taste of summer we had last week, many are eager to begin digging and planting in their gardens. To inspire gardeners, Diantha will discuss what to think about when planning a yard or garden. Her talk will include slides to illustrate how to work a garden into the local landscape, whether in the Maine woods, along the coast, or in a town or suburb.
Diantha lives in Bremen and has a local gardening and landscaping business. She has studied architecture as well as attending the Landscape Institute at the Arnold Arboretum.
After a mild winter gardeners are ready to begin another season of planting. Before you get started, come listen to an expert. She will answer your gardening questions and may give you new ideas for your personal landscape. And remember the Bremen Plant Sale will be held on Saturday May 19. After hearing Diantha you may have a whole new lists of plants that you want to incorporate in your yard.
The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
This is part of the "Monday Nights at the Library" series of programs.

Bremen Library Plant Sale

Bremen Plant/Book/ Bake sale May 22!

Today is May Day. The celebration of the first day of May has traditions going back to pagan times. It traditionally marks the end of winter and beginning of spring. For the Bremen Library it means the start of preparations for the annual plant sale. Gardeners have begun dividing and sharing plants for the sale. The date is set for May 22, and with the early spring we are having this year, the plants we sell will be good sized. The selection at this sale includes traditional plants as well as some more unusual varieties. In the past there have been over 1,000 pots of plants available to buy.
While plant lovers shop outside at the plant tables, book lovers will find a room full of used books to look through inside. The library has been collecting donated books all year for this event, and there should be something for everyone who loves to read. And a bake sale of goodies baked by local cooks will feed the stomach. This annual event is a big fundraiser for the library.
Call the Bremen Library for more information.
