March Calendar

March 19, 2008 Book Group meets at 3:00 pm to discuss Saving Fish From Drowning by Amy
Tan.

March brings the hope of spring after an especially difficult winter. After several months of dark cold winter days the promise that melting snow will uncover the first blooms of spring is anticipated by everyone. The Vernal Equinox occurs on March 20, and this month brings two other holidays to celebrate: St. Patrick's Day and Easter. Though residents of Maine know that the dates on a calendar don't mean that winter is completely over, they also know that the final snows will be melting quickly. So while the cold lingers take advantage of the chance to curl up with a book indoors without feeling guilty about all that needs to get done outdoors. The demands of summer guests and outdoor events are looming, so savor the final lazy days indoors. Knowing it will be over soon takes the sting out of the last cold winds.
