Wreath Sale on the calendar for November

The landscape is decorated with pumpkins and ghosts as Halloween approaches on Wednesday. After the candy is eaten and the jack-o-lanterns gone, thoughts turn ahead to the next holidays on the calendar. Christmas of course looms largest with all the symbols and rituals entrenched in the many traditions kept alive even in this busy modern age. A local tradition is the Bremen Library wreath sale. The library has been decorating and selling wreaths as a fund raiser for a number of years. The plain wreaths are made in Waldoboro for the library, and decorated by volunteers with pinecones, rosehips and other natural materials. Even the bows are handcrafted by volunteers in a variety of colors. The wreaths are offered for sale at the Bremen Town House on Saturday Nov. 17th and 24th. You can order your wreath ahead or pick one out on the days of the sale. You can also order wreaths to be mailed as gifts by the library for you. For information call the Library at 529-5514.
