BOOK GROUP NEWS

The Bremen Library book group met on September 20 after a summer hiatus. To Remember Forever by Gladys Hasty Carroll was the first book the group read and discussed. This memoir of the author's experiences at Bates College in 1922-23 was an interesting look at Maine life in the early days of the 20th century.

The group made a tentative list of titles they will read in the coming months. It was agreed to read several classic works as well as contemporary fiction and some non-fiction titles. Several of the future authors and books that were chosen are The Lobster Coast by Colin Woodard, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, and a book by one of the Bronte sisters. Charles Dickens was chosen for the October meeting. Originally we had planned to read Pickwick Papers , but this was changed to The Mystery of Edwin Drood because it is a shorter novel and will be easier to read in a month's time. The next meeting will be held on October 18 at 3:00 P.M.

For the November meeting, scheduled for Nov. 29, we will read The Lobster Coast by Colin Woodard.

We are always looking for new members. Copies of the books will be available at the library. Call for more information 529-5572
